Come on guys, say it! ALHAMDULILLAH!
I’ve just returned from the big Masjid near Regents Park where I witnessed the greatest transformation in the Universe!
Picture it:
With just a few simply words, Jerome’s entire life, no his entire eternity, has completely changed. In the space of a few seconds nothing is as it was before. No, he didn’t just get married or win a million pounds. Jerome declared a simple truth: “There is none worthy of worship except Allah and Muhammad (pbuh) is the Messenger of Allah.”
Jerome is now Zaid… What a don! I’ve never met this young Caribbean guy before but as soon as I saw him, I could tell he was a lot more mature than his age. I asked how could he even consider reverting to Islam when there’s so much slander about it in the media at the moment. He told me “no matter the situation, when you see the truth, you can’t deny it.”
This is the sixth reversion to Islam I’ve been blessed to come across in the last few years and every time it happens, I expect there to be a huge rift in the space-time continuum. Think about what just took place and how many millions may be affected by this one event.
I wonder if Zaid realises how he has changed his destiny and what else is to follow. Does he realise he will now live the rest of his life knowing the answers to the fundamental questions of where he came from, where he will go after life and his purpose while he’s here? Does he realise that he will now live his life in tranquility knowing that no matter what happens he can progress in life because ultimately he knows the true meaning of his existence? Can he appreciate that the guy sitting in front of him now sees him as his own brother and is willing to die for him if the need arises? Can he comprehend having over a billion brothers and sisters around the world?
So many happy thoughts and questions rushed through my mind - but I think the best part and perhaps what makes reversions to Islam unique is that it wasn’t a decision based on faith or emotion. Jerome now had answers to his questions. Answers based on fact, reason and deep thought. Answers to questions the rest of his society have already decided are not worth thinking about…

I once witnessed an 70 year old african carribean woman take the shahdah. It’s a truly humbling experience.
