Anyone ever watched “The 700 Club”? The American show with Pat Robertson (founder of Christian Coalition of America)? No, well neither have I. What I hear is Pat thinks Venezuela is full of oil. Well, he’s right about that. I wonder if Venezuela has reached its oil peak… Hmm…
Pat also thinks Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has turned the country into “a launching pad for Communist infiltration and Muslim extremism”. That’s what he said on his 700 club show last Monday…
Communism and Islam. One obstinately claims everything is the Creator, the other insists everything is the Creator’s. That little apostrophe makes all the difference. So why does a Secular Christian bring these two fundamentally opposed ideologies together? What’s the link?
Well, Pat Roberson is a big supporter of Bush and the Capitalist way of life and he wants the whole world to know about it. Pat says: “If he (President Chavez) thinks we’re trying to assassinate him, I think we really ought to go ahead and do it.” And added: “It’s a whole lot cheaper than starting a war. We have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come that we exercise that ability.”
Wow! Pat wants to kill a guy for not running his country the way Pat thinks he should. I thought Chavez was the President! Anyway, let’s imagine a Muslim founder of an organisation said something like that. We’d hear two months of media propaganda about the guy being an extremist and then ultimately the US flies in and bombs the country flat. After killing a few hundred thousand civilians, the Muslim who made the statement gets arrested.
It looks like it’s only “freedom of speech” if it’s in line with US Government policy and “democracy” as long as it doesn’t lead to an Islamic State. So what’s the link between Islam and Communism? Only that they’re both ideologies that provide solutions for mankind ““ Pat mentions these two because he’s worried that people are not going to swallow secular fundamentalism for much longer and if they’re looking for an alternative, they’ll find one.

Pat Robertson is a Dominionist. Both Westerners and Muslims should regard Dominionist ideology as a mortal enemy.
Dominionism is essentially the Christian Calvinist analog of the Islamist movement. The United States under Dominionism would be very much like the Islamic Khilafah but with the following differences:
1. Fornicators would be executed according to Mosaic Law (Shari’ah only prescribes flogging)
2. All non-Christians and non-fundamentalist Christians would be exterminated (IOW there is no analog to the dhimma).
3. Dominionism openly supports a plutocratic capitalist economy (note that many historians credit Calvinism for the rise of capitalism in the west), while Islam opposes it.
4. The Dominionists believe that God will supply ever-increasing natural resources, and are therefore virulently anti-environmentalist.
