<a href='#comment-1107' rel="nofollow">@Ahsan</a> -

Assalaamu 'Alaykum Ahsan,

There are two books that I would highly recommend are "The Islamic Economic System" by Sh. Taqiuddin an-Nabahani and "Funds in the Khilafah" by Sh. Abdul Qadeem Zalloum. A simple google search should suffice.

Comtemporary western books are covered well by economists from the Austrian School of Thought, Ludwig von Mises and Murray Rothbard being some of the most profilic authors.

I started off my career as a Metals Analyst in the City, working closely with the likes of the London Metal Exchange, Metal Bulletin, Platts and the London Bullion Market Association. Everyday the price of gold is 'fixed' through LBMA members, after a while you realise that the price of gold really is being fixed to neferious ends. Which prompted me to study the Islamic view of the money markets.

I still have one or two more posts to write in the series.
